Her father was a coach builder and his business would, in time, become Thrupp & Maberly. The artist Frederick Thrupp was her half-brother. She wrote hymns that were published in the paper ''The Friendly Visitor'' and ''The Children’s Friend'' magazine. Although another source says that she contributed to magazines edited by Caroline Fry.
